A Hard Last Week

So the last week of my life has been pretty difficult. I'm definitely learning a thing or two about living "out in the boonies" (and how Tacoma doesn't come close to counting as "the boonies"), and some of the perils that come with it. It can be really lonely out here, even when your husband is super-supportive, and  you talk to your family via Skype several times a week. There's also the very real worry of losing someone you love when you're thousands of miles away from them, and can't do anything about it. That has been a very real worry of mine, and unfortunately, it happened. It took me awhile to post again because of this, and I apologize, but I realized that if I didn't get up and do *something* I was going to spend the rest of my time out here lying in bed watching daytime television, and eating cereal for every meal. So I am up off my butt and posting again, in honor of my Aunt Lorraine, who always struck me as primarily a happy and *adventurous* person.  I think it would be too easy for me to lie back for the rest of time in Australia and just let it happen, But I don't think Aunt Lorraine would've done that, so I'm going to work really hard at taking  my days out here, even the lonely ones, as a gift. I'm going to pursue photography, and art, and writing, and creativity- all the things that I let other people tell me (that's YOU freshman year art teacher...) I wasn't good at, and that I eventually told myself I wasn't good at either.

And just to cheer myself up, I'm going to make a list of small things that make me happy, that way, whenever I get depressed, I can look back on it and smile.

My "good things" list. (Don't sue me Martha, I have like $8.61).

I love your favorite things list! It makes me want to go out and try every last one of them, in an effort to feel kind of like you are here! Some of those would be harder for me, of course...haha, not sure how I would be a "wifechidna" (what is a wifechidna, lol?), but I sure wouldn't mind a pedicure with a scoop of gelato, and a chance to sit out in the sun and blow bubbles!
